This policy explains how Point Nord handles personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Finnish data protection law.
1. Who we are
Point Nord is operated by FIG Ventures, Helsinki, Finland.
Contact: info@figventures.vc
2. What we process and why
| Situation | Data | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| You visit the website | Technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited | Delivering and securing the website | Legitimate interest |
| Visitor statistics | Aggregated, anonymous usage figures | Improving our content | Legitimate interest |
| You contact us | Your name, email address and message | Responding to you and handling your request | Legitimate interest |
| You subscribe to updates | Your email address | Sending you news about new episodes | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| You appear as a guest | Name, title, organisation, photo, biography and the recording | Producing and publishing our content | Agreement with the guest and legitimate interest |
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for these purposes or as required by law.
3. Cookies and local storage
We do not use cookies for advertising or for tracking you across websites.
Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies to keep the website secure and protect it against abuse. If you choose light or dark mode, the website remembers your choice in your browser’s local storage. Neither requires your consent, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
4. Embedded players and external platforms
Episodes can be played through services such as YouTube, Spotify and Bilibili. Their players load only when you choose to play an episode. From then on, and whenever you follow a link to an external platform, that platform’s own privacy policy and cookie practices apply.
5. Sharing your data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the website and our communications, such as hosting, email and newsletter services, and only as needed for the purposes above.
Where data is processed outside the EU or EEA, we make sure appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR are in place.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent. To use these rights, email us at info@figventures.vc.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Finland this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version.
